This month, we’re thrilled to shine the spotlight one of the Dr Pepper Museum’s 10-2-4 Club legacy member Paul Ward, whose passion for Dr Pepper and dedication to the Museum have spanned an incredible 15 years. From the moment he was introduced to the 10-2-4 Club, Paul knew he’d found something special. The 10-2-4 Club isn’t just a community of collectors, but a deep connection to the unique history and rare artifacts that make the Dr Pepper Museum one of a kind.
In this month’s feature, Paul shares his favorite memories, what keeps him coming back, and why he encourages anyone curious about the 10-2-4 Club to join or start their own collection of Dr Pepper items.
Q1: How long have you been a 10-2-4 Club member?
Paul: I’ve been a proud Club member for 15 years, and I’m glad to say that in all those years, I have not missed a single annual 10-2-4 Club Convention in Waco. I schedule all my other (less important!) meetings around that great week.
My first connection and inspiration to join the 10-2-4 Club came from a meeting with longtime member and fellow Dr Pepper enthusiast, Larry Vowell. He sparked my passion when he explained the rarity of the Waco King of Beverages and Circle A Ginger Ale bottles in my collection.
Q2: Is there a favorite memory or moment at the Museum that’s stuck with you?
Paul: I have many special moments and sweet memories at the Museum. The amazing staff always expresses such warmth to every person who walks through the doors. And of course, the Dr Pepper floats at the soda fountain are a treat!
But the best memories are tied to the one-of-a-kind, never-seen-in-a-lifetime items within the Museum walls. There’s no other place in the world that preserves such rare soda artifacts in their original home. The Museum building itself is a rare artifact.
Q3: What are some ways you’ve taken advantage of your Museum membership?
Paul: As a 10-2-4 Club member, I’m grateful for the deep connection I’ve found with other collectors and with the Dr Pepper Museum.
I’ve really enjoyed the membership benefits, especially the discounts at the soda fountain and gift shop. The convention is always a highlight, with its well-organized schedule of auctions, museum tours, room shopping between the members, soda collectible swap meets, and excellent food.
Q4: What would you say to someone who is considering becoming a member?
Paul: To anyone considering joining the 10-2-4 Club: Do it! It’s easy!
Collecting Dr Pepper memorabilia is Best of All. There’s no better way to connect with the history of a drink created in 1885 at the Old Corner Drug Store in Waco, Texas.
Thank you, Paul, for being a devoted 10-2-4 member!
