As a nonprofit institution, the Dr Pepper Museum relies on support from visitation, grants, donations, and sponsorships. Thank you to the generous support of Premier ER & Urgent Care, the Museum is able to keep A Dr Pepper Christmas free and accessible to the community.
Premier ER + Urgent Care is a locally rooted, physician-led emergency and urgent care provider committed to delivering fast, compassionate, high-quality medical care without the long waits of a traditional hospital ER. Kristina Holcomb, Vice President of Communications and Patients Relations for Premier ER, shared with us about the importance to Premier ER + Urgent Care of community involvement and building trust to ensure proper care during life’s hardest moments.
1. What inspired you to support the Dr Pepper Museum and events like Dr Pepper Christmas?
Kristina: The Dr Pepper Museum is an iconic part of Waco’s history and identity. Events like A Dr Pepper Christmas bring families together, celebrate local heritage, and create lasting memories. Supporting these experiences aligns perfectly with our belief that strong, connected communities contribute to overall health and well-being. Our team lives, works, and raises families in the Waco area, and we take pride in serving our neighbors with the same level of care we would want for our own loved ones. We see everything from the common cold to heart attacks and strokes.
2. Why is community involvement important to your organization?
Kristina: Healthcare is about more than treating illness; it’s about supporting people where they live, work, and gather. Community involvement allows us to build trust, strengthen relationships, and invest in the vitality of Waco. When our community thrives, everyone benefits.
3. What is something people might not know about your business or team?
Kristina: Many people don’t realize that our emergency rooms are fully equipped with advanced imaging, on-site labs, and board-certified physicians; allowing us to treat serious conditions quickly and efficiently. Our team is also deeply service-oriented, often volunteering and supporting local initiatives behind the scenes.
4. Do you have a personal or special memory connected to the Dr Pepper Museum?
Kristina: For many of us, the Dr Pepper Museum is tied to family visits, school field trips, and holiday traditions like A Dr Pepper Christmas. It’s one of those places that feels uniquely “Waco” and represents the shared experiences that connect generations. The very first Dr Pepper I drank was at the museum when I moved to Waco in 2005.
