We wanted to keep all of our blog followers up to date with a few technology changes we are making around here at the DPM. In April a few of the staff (Jack, Joy and Mary Beth) had the chance to attend the Non-Profit Technology Conference that was held in Atlanta. We had a lot of fun, but also came away with a lot of great ideas! As a result, you will notice a few changes with our blog, our Facebook page, and our Twitter feed!
Our website will be driven by our Director of Visitor Services, Jennie Sheppard. Our Twitter feed will be l
ed by Mary Beth Tait, our Collections Manager, who will still work to keep us up-to-date with our technology! The blog will be led by me - Joy Summar-Smith. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m the Associate Director here at the DPM and work with Mary Beth and our Programs Manager, Diane Bernhardt in developing our exhibits. I also spend a lot of time behind the scenes developing our special events, so if you’ve been here for our Dog Days of Summer and A Dr Pepper Christmas events, I was probably the whirl that you noticed spinning by at times.
Now back to our blog…The first thing you’ll notice about our blog is that it looks different! Mary Beth has been working hard to update the look of our blog and make sure we are using the best possible platform for it. We’ve added images of the DPM to our blog site and moved it to Word Press, so if you’ve bookmarked it previously, take a moment to update that bookmark now!
In the past you’ve heard from a variety of people working here at the DPM and that will continue. From your feedback, we’ve noticed that you enjoy the look behind-the-scenes our blog has offered and that will continue to be an important focus.
We are adding a series of blog posts that will be written by people other than our staff. They will tell you why they support the DPM and its mission of telling the history of the soft drink industry and its roots in free enterprise economics. You will hear from board members, summer interns, frequent visitors, Dr Pepper collectors, and teachers who year after year bring their students to our Free Enterprise Institute.
Please check back frequently! Let us know what you think about our blog. And if you ever visit the DPM, be sure to check-in with us on Four Square and check out our TwitPic locations throughout the DPM!
