Position Announcement: Free Enterprise Institute Programs Manager

The Dr Pepper Museum & Free Enterprise Institute in Waco, Texas seeks a museum professional to serve as the Free Enterprise Institute (FEI) Programs Manager. This senior staff position works to leverage the museum's resources to support the educational opportunities on-site and off-site. As the lead representative of the Dr Pepper Museum’s Free Enterprise Institute, the Programs Manager is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with our key educational stakeholders.

The Programs Manager will lead and coordinate the museum’s efforts in developing and implementing quality informal, innovative, and engaging curriculum‑aligned programming to schools, outreach venues, adults, families, and children. He/She will have overall responsibility for the development of free enterprise program content and activities as well as all aspects of administration of the educational programs. The Programs Manager is also responsible for the management of part-time staff, interns, and volunteers as tour guides and participates on the exhibit development team as an advocate for the visitor experience. Occasional weekend and evening scheduling is required.

The successful candidate will have some or all of these qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in Education, History, Economics, or Museum Studies
  • Educational credentials at the Masters level is preferred
  • Classroom teaching experience is desirable
  • Knowledge of State of Texas learning standards and education reforms
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Well-developed organizational skills and attention to details
  • Above average computer skills, MS Office, Internet, desktop publishing, and data base management

Position Announcement: Summer Camp Coordinator

The Dr Pepper Museum & Free Enterprise Institute in Waco, Texas seeks a coordinator for its summer camp program. This temporary position creates quality educational and entertaining experiences that communicates the Museum’s message to summer campers. The coordinator will work with interns and volunteers to lead the summer camp program. He or she will be responsible for record keeping and the development of curriculum, evaluation metrics and other items as needed for the successful development, presentation and evaluation of the program.

The successful candidate will have these qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in Education, History, Economics, Business or Philosophy
  • Teaching experience is desirable
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Well-developed organizational skills and attention to details

Compensation ranges from $10-$11 an hour depending on qualifications and experience.

Position Announcement: Interpretation Associate

The Dr Pepper Museum invites applications for the temporary part-time position of Interpretation Associate. This position will be within the Interpretation Department that includes museum programming, collections, and exhibitions. Some previous collections training or an in-progress Museum Studies degree are required. The position is available for no less than 15 and no more than 30 hours per week for the summer. Must be available to work some weekends in accordance with the Museum’s special events and programming schedule.

Qualifications include knowledge of proper museum object care and handling and museum database software. Good candidates are self-starters with good research and writing skills. Candidates should be strong public speakers and demonstrate a willingness to learn and lead tours and public programs. This position requires a moderate amount of physical exertion including, but not limited to, moving pallets, operating a pallet jack and a freight elevator, picking up/lifting boxes, and opening large overhead doors.
